Administrative Orientation

The Bible does not teach that the spiritual gift of administration is the preeminent gift. In fact the gift we are all to pray for is . . .,

the gift of prophecy, but I digress.

I believe the gift of administration is a servent leadership gift designed to allow the rest of the gifts to be utilized in whatever manner the Spirit decides and leads.

The church is never to stop another individual from practicing their gift, though the church is to clearly exercise appropriate care as to who and where an individual may utilize their gift. What do I mean?

First, lets try to always allow each disciple to follow fully the dictates of their conscience. We are not to try to tell them authoritatively whether they are of God or not.
Second, lets try to recognize the importance of organization, taking counsel from fellow disciples and men and women who have been asked by their church or conference to provide accountability, leadership and descretion.

There are indeed times when sharp disagreements take place with both individuals feeling they are being led by God. It may in fact be true, remember Paul and Silas. In such cases the individuals should follow the Biblical example and go their seperate ways, not trying to control the other. Neither should the controversy be allowed to stay in the local church, causing needless disagreement, control battles and bitterness. We are not called to fight with each other, but to pray for each other and encourage one another. It is high time the church become the best place in the world for disciples to be nurtured in their individual strengths, learning how to join the team and strengthen the local church.
