Mile High Academy introduces more new staff
Last week we shared the names of three new faculty members who will teach at Mile High Academy next year. Here are three more to welcome! Read more.
I (Brian Howard) am a Colorado native, born in Alamosa, but moving to the Loveland-Fort Collins area soon. I am an alumnus of HMS Richards and Campion Academy. After high school, I spent time at both Southern Adventist University and Walla Walla College (now Walla Walla University). I received a B.S. in mathematics and a minor in history from Walla Walla, graduating with the class of 2007 — the last class to have “Walla Walla College” on their diplomas.
During my time in college, I spent one year as a student missionary. I taught math at Guam Adventist Academy, during the 2004–2005 school year.
Upon graduation, I took a math/science teaching position at Vista Ridge Academy where I remained for four years.
In 2011, I started a Masters of Engineering degree through Colorado State University, and I will graduate in a few days. While working on my degree, I worked at Huntington Learning Center in Fort Collins, Colo., coaching students in the math and science sections of the ACT and SAT.
During the past year, I have been working at Porter Adventist Hospital as a Biomedical Equipment Technician, while finishing my Master’s degree online.
I met my wife, Emily, while working at Glacier View Ranch, and we were married last August at a pumpkin farm in Loveland, Colo. We are enjoying sharing our home with our cat, Richard Parker, and our dog, Chaco. We also love sharing outdoor adventures such as rock climbing, mountain biking and backpacking. I also love whitewater kayaking. I am looking forward to returning to the classroom and sharing my love of math and science with students again!
Tyler Rettler graduated from Mile High Academy in 2002, and has an A.S. in Computer Information Systems and a B.S. in Business Administration from Union College. He has worked for the Rocky Mountain Conference at Glacier View Ranch for several years and, most recently, has worked for Porter Federal Credit Union at Porter Adventist Hospital. The last two years he also has been working with the school in a part-time role, managing the IT infrastructure. Tyler is married to Kristina Rettler, who has been teaching at MHA the last two years. He’s looking forward to helping the school to move forward with their IT and technology upgrades, including the new 1:1 program.
After graduating from the University of Texas at Arlington with her Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Math and Science, Brandy Taylor began teaching math at a middle school in Dallas, Texas. After teaching in the public system for six years, God has led her to Mile High Academy. She is excited about sharing her love for God and math with her new students. Besides teaching, she writes, participates in outdoor activities, and spends time with her family. She is moving to Denver with her husband, Gabriel, and her three-year-old daughter, Savannah.
